Every journey begins with the first step – on August 20th the introduction of the first graders of Kämmer International Bilingual School was celebrated in the school cantina.
On a bright sunny day the youngsters had to take some more steps: A warm meet & greet at the school gates was followed by the formal greeting by the Head of Primary School, Ms. Nicola Claire and the Head of School, Mr. Andreas Schraknepper, in an english/german speech. Mr. Schraknepper pointed out that the beginning of school days is a huge step not just for the children but also the parents, and dignified this with a short “lesson” for the parents.
Ms. Koelven, leader of the parents’ association pointed out the value of making changes and opting for a special school concept like the one at KIBS – a decision that she has never regretted – and went on to welcome the new parents into the community of KIBS parents.
Just as committed as the parents’ association is the staff: Teachers and teaching specialists introduced themselves. The came the big moment when the teachers called out their future children one by one.
Together with the form teachers the class rooms were visited, but first the new pupils had to cross an arch of “school cones”. After that everybody had the opportunity to get to know each other and celebrate a little more at a cake buffet.
To bring the celebration to a close, the KIBS youngsters let balloons fly into the sky – with their very own wishes for the future tied to them. Their start of schooldays has led them to a very special school.
Welcome at KIBS, dear children and dear parents!
