Learning for the Future.
Technology is our playground.
Kämmer International Bilingual School has been recognised by Apple as a centre of innovation, leadership, and educational excellence — continuously evolving how we equip students to thrive in a globalised world.
Apple technology helps us every day to adapt our teaching to the needs of our students — and we are proud that the creative work of our teachers and students continues to be recognised with this distinction.— Heike Eckhoff, Managing Director & Maren Clarke, Principal · KIBS Hannover
At KIBS, Apple products have always been tools — not goals. They support a vision: equipping every student with the critical thinking, well-being practices, and collaborative skills needed to contribute to an increasingly complex, connected society.
Innovation starts with teachers. We invest in professional growth and a culture of shared curiosity. From the primary school’s App of the Month challenge — where teachers and students explore new tools together — to a comprehensive AI curriculum in secondary, we meet the future head-on.
Rather than fearing the rise of artificial intelligence, we embrace it responsibly. Our students don’t just use AI — they understand how it works, where its limits lie, and how to use it ethically and creatively.
We developed a comprehensive AI concept in KIBS Secondary because we want education to be future-oriented.
AI is not a replacement for teachers or independent thinking — it is a tool that supports individual learning. Students design multimedia projects, simulations, and their own learning content that tackles real-world problems.
Innovation in Action
A selection of the programmes, tools, and approaches that define learning at KIBS.
KILPITO — AI Learning Assistant
Built in-house, KILPITO is KIBS’s own AI assistant for the Individual Learning Programme (KILP), helping students in Years 5–8 work autonomously in English, Maths, German, and Spanish.
PULSE — Connected School Community
Teachers award house points, write glow notes, set mentoring targets, and share interim reports — instantly, paperlessly. Parents get real-time visibility into progress, feedback, and achievements.
Minducation — Student Well-being App
Developed with our partner school in Tenerife by our own students using Swift Playgrounds and Xcode. Features an emotions record, activity log, and daily well-being tips.
Grade 7 Robotics Programme
Students apply theoretical physics to design and build mechanical robots based on the six simple machines — culminating in a multi-axis robotic arm with calculated mechanical advantage and torque.
Annual Tech Fair
Students create podcasts, digital fake-news quizzes, and coding games that explore democratic and sustainable processes — using technology to engage with real-world challenges that matter.
App of the Month — Teacher Culture
Each month, primary school teachers explore a new app and weave it into their lessons. Successes are shared on Padlet, building a school-wide culture of curiosity and collaboration.
That same spirit of independence runs through KILP — KIBS Individual Learning Programme — where students in Years 5 to 8 work autonomously in English, Maths, German, and Spanish. This year, we took it further with KILPITO, our own self-developed AI assistant.
Our Apple Distinguished School Journey
From first designation to recertification — a commitment to continuous innovation.
First Apple Distinguished School Designation
KIBS Hannover recognised for innovation in bilingual digital learning, with iPads integrated school-wide from Year 1 upwards and coding embedded in the primary curriculum.
Remote Learning & Digital Resilience
When the pandemic arrived, existing Apple infrastructure allowed KIBS to pivot seamlessly to remote learning. No new structures needed — we built on what was already there.
First Recertification
Successfully recertified as an Apple Distinguished School. Expanded the KILP individual learning model and published our school eBook on Apple Books.
Second Recertification Application
Applying for renewed designation as an Apple Distinguished School — continuing our commitment to responsible AI literacy, student well-being, and global citizenship through technology.
What is an Apple Distinguished School?
The designation is awarded to a select group of schools worldwide.
Centres of Innovation, Leadership & Educational Excellence
Apple Distinguished Schools are institutions recognised for their innovative use of Apple technology in learning, teaching, and the school environment. They demonstrate a consistent record of academic success and are characterised by the way they foster creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking across every age group and subject area.
